Our Partners

John Vafa is a music attorney with a Juris Doctorate from University of San Diego School of Law and attended the University of California Los Angeles School of Law. Prior to law school, he participated as first chair in symphonic orchestras, a touring DJ and producer, and a co-founder of a talent purchasing and event production company for venues in Los Angeles, San Francisco, and Miami. He represented artists as an artist manager while attending law school. Prior to forming G&V Law, John worked in business and legal affairs for record labels and publishers and has extensive transactional experience in negotiating and drafting agreements & licenses for music monetization. 

John also participated in domestic and international  corporate acquisitions. In addition to John’s transactional experience, he has extensive litigation experience and litigates high profile entertainment related matters as lead counsel in both State and Federal Court. John is also a strong advocate of providing pro bono legal services and notes the importance of providing pro bono representation in the music industry in order to protect the future interest of potential music artists that only lack the financial resources to retain independent counsel.  John also provides pro bono legal representation in criminal defense matters and for artists who lack financial resources to retain counsel. As a music enthusiast and former touring artist, John continues to bridges the gap between creativity and business and always looks negotiate arrangements that benefits all parties, including the artist and corporate third party corporate music companies.

Aidin Ghavimi focuses his practice on contract disputes and commercial litigation. He is an aggressive litigator who stresses active and open communication. He is a well-versed negotiator who takes advantage of bargaining power at every opportunity. Aidin received his Bachelors of Science in Business Administration from the University of Southern California, with Honors. He received his Juris Doctorate from Loyola Law School, Los Angeles. Prior to co-founding the firm, Aidin worked in the United States District Court, Central District of California as a judicial extern for the Hon. Chief Judge George H. King. 

Aidin has represented multinational corporations in high stakes litigation involving contract, employment and construction disputes. He has brought and opposed several Anti-SLAPP motions in defamation and privacy tort cases. Aidin has also advised managers and artist representatives with respect to the Talent Agency Act and has represented clients before the California Labor Commissioner. He has also served as co-counsel in international commercial arbitration proceedings. Aidin uses his experience to negotiate favorable deals on behalf of his clients and to counsel clients in ways to avoid future disputes.
